Inspiration comes from the way nature can be reflected in a piece of art, in a mimetic way rather than a representative one. The main idea comes from the progressive and gradual formation of rocks and caves. I am working with liquid stoneware in plaster cubes, destroying raw pieces randomly and pouring liquid clay over them. Also, I am using other materials like textiles and strings which I am dipping in liquid clay. The form derives from gravity and movement of materials. The works “eggs” and  “cubes” represent the idea of the natural circle of life, the circle of creation and disaster.  The microcosms within their shapes identify the uniformity and the diversity of nature.

The work ”apolithosis” is inspired of the processes of a fossil’s formation and excavation. The idea is to build molds directly with plaster pieces, where their form is not pre-design, but rather emergent during the process. Ι produced a collection of plaster elements, such as bricks, hands of plastic gloves, plastic bags and so on. Then I combined them by closing their holes with clay and pouring liquid porcelain in the mold that was created by their mixture. The form is a combination of organic and geometric nature. It represents fragments and remnants of the past as the revival of artifacts through the archaeological excavation. Although the process is controlled, there is always the element of surprise that it is making the opening of mold an exciting moment.
